Upgrading CPU

I was thinking of upgrading my cpu (Intel E6750) to a Q6600.

(That is if I can sell my E6750 and HS/F)

Is that a good idea?

...you left out what kind of difference you hope to pay, what you use your computer for, how often you use your system now, etc, etc, etc.

we have no idea. only you can decide if its "a good idea" based on these and similar factors.

Some gaming, Art, My system is on pretty much all day.

I was thinking of getting the tuniq tower along with the E6600.
 
Doesn't seem like much of an upgrade to go from the E6750 to the E6600 - maybe a little better overclocking, but hardly worth the expense unless you get a good deal selling the old stuff.

Edit: I see that you changed it to Q6600 - still doesn't seem like a worthwhile upgrade, based on what you say you'll be using it for, art and gaming. Unless you are doing heavy multimedia-type stuff, I don't see that you'll get much benefit from the 2 extra cores.
 
idk if your first post was a typo or not from what others have said above, but
if you're planing on going from a E6750 to a Q6600, that would probably be a good upgrade if you need the extra cores; but if you're not gonna be doing more with your computer, it may be a waste of money...

if you are going from a E6750 to a E6600, that's not a good move...

if by art you mean photoshop, no. if by art you mean modeling/rendering, yes.
