I’m looking to upgrade my system a bit. Right now I have the following picked out:

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ Windsor 2.4GHz

MoBo: ASUS M2N-E Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 Ultra

RAM: pqi TURBO 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM (PC2 5400)

I use my comp mostly for gaming. I’ll also be keeping my GeForce 7950 GT, X-Fi sound card, hard drive, and DVD drive from my older computer. I’m also thinking of keeping my 430W power supply too. But I’m not sure if that would be enough juice for this new rig?

get a 3800 x2 am2 from ewiz. 91 bucks and it should clock pretty good.

chech with the Qualified Vendors List (QVL) for your mobo. I didn't think I saw pqi on there. Heck, shouldn't amtter too much (I have patriot on my asus) but just thought I would put it out there. also, like matrix said, i would get a lower clocked x2 and get better ram like ddr2800 and oc the lower clocked cpu.

For $460, a Core2Duo would outperform that AX2 in gaming, and everything else. What's your budget?

For $460, I'd go with:
$163 - Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 Allendale 1.8GHz 2MB L2 Cache
$105 - Biostar TForce965PT LGA 775 Intel P965 Express
$167 - Corsair XMS2 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2-800 TWIN2X2048-6400 ($207 - $40MIR)
$20 - Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro

If your budget was less, I'd go with a 3600+ brisbane combo, ddr2-800 ram, and a freezer 64 pro.

I'm looking to spend around $400 to $500 on new hardware.
Should I get a new PSU? or would the one I have do fine?

Then that Core2Duo build would be the best performance for your money.

What model 430W do you have, and how old is it?
