Hey guys I want to upgrade my graphics card to a Nvidia 9800 GTX+. My case is a Gateway 420GR and I was wondering if it would fit as I have heard the card is pretty big. I currently have a Radeon X700. Your help would be very much appreciated, thank you :)

Depends, the older 9800GTX+ with the 65nm die is 10.5" long. If you get a 9800GTX+ based on the smaller 55nm die, it will be 9" long in length. You may want to consider a Nvidia Geforce GTS 250 video card as most if not all GTS 250s are 9" in length. Your Gateway 420GR computer is a P4 2.93ghz cpu? You may want to consider a card below a 9800GTX+ or GTS 250. No sense spending more than $100 on a video card for a computer with those type of specs.

The biggest concern I'd have is whether your power supply can power the 9800 gtx+. If you have a stock power supply I'd make sure you have enough power before worrying about size constraints.

Guru what card would you recommend for my computer? I want to be able to run games like empire total war for the time being as I will be getting a new computer soon. Other then it being a P4 with 2.93 ghz I have all other parts up to date mostly.

The prices on GTX 260's and Radeon 4870's have been very reasonable as of late....either of those would be substantially better for not much more green than a 9800 GTX+ (figure 20-30 buck more, for substantially better performance).

Sure they would but he is using and ancient ass prefab which im guessing only has 305 Watt power supply which would not even be close to having enough power to support either of those cards.

Is the Power Supply the original PSU that is in the Gateway computer? I am assuming it is. For that machine, I would not recommend a 9800GTX+, or a GTX 260 video cards for the specs that you have in your Gateway computer. For now, just get a Radeon HD 4670 video card from what I listed earlier. Again, a Radeon HD 4670 is a HUGE performance increase over your Radeon X700 video card.

The HIS Hightech Radeon HD 4670 video card for $70 would be a better choice than the Sapphire 4670. For the same price, it has an extra 30mhz increase on the core clock at 780mhz vs 750mhz that is on the Sapphire card.
