Just looking for suggestions on if its worth it to spend the ~$200 more on a evga 480 vs 470?

I have the evga gtx260 vanilla now and its ran all my games fine, until today I purchased ARMA 2 and it runs terribly.

I have a core i7 and 6gb of ram, and feel the video card is severely limiting me.

Thanks for any suggestions :(
 
I'd just wait for the 460 if you want a cost effective upgrade... maybe the 470 but the 480 is just too damned expensive for the mediocre performance increase over the cheaper cards.

I've been thinking about selling my GTX280 and getting a 470 or even a 460, but really the 280 is still working just fine for me.
 
I went from an EVGA GTX 260 Superclocked to an EVGA GTX 480 and got a nice boost in performance at my monitors native 1080p resolution.

I wouldn't even consider a 460, go for a 470 or 480 depending on your resolution needs.
 
If you are not interested in DX11, which honestly, except for Metro2033, has yet to be overwhelming, I'd suggest just getting another GTX 260 and running SLi.
You can pick up a great used 260 for around $120 in the for sale section.

I have just finished putting together an old school SLi project with a Q6600, evga 680i board and two GTX 260s. I tell you what, I can run pretty much anything I want with all the settings at 6075 X 1200 resolution.

It's almost as good as my EyeFinity stuff.
 
I don't know yet. I wouldn't say 'don't even think about it, go 480' simply because if it's SLI boost is as high as the 480 (90%+) and the 460 has crazy overclocking potential, you could very well be able to get 480 performance at 80% the price by going SLI 460 1g. If that is indeed the case it may be a viable option considering the variety of issues and flaws in the 480.

I'm waiting for a few more reviews, particularly on SLI, before I decide exactly what I want to do. I'm still running on an EVGA GTX 295 v2 'superclocked' myself, which is still very capable with the latest games, so we shall see.
 
the ati 5870 cards have been seen as low as $330....and the gtx470 has been seen as low as 275...it's deal season.....save your money for the right deal.
