Well I upgraded from a 2800+ axp on an asus a7n8x to a a64 3200+ on an msi neo2 platinum.overclock on cpu wasnt amazing (275x9@1.75v), but my 6800gt couldnt run 400/1100 smooth anymore. for a week or so 376/1100 was ok, but now even stock i get problems (glitching in punisher for example), and 3dmark05 pauses freqently at ANYTHING over 350/1100 (weird how ram will still oc all the way, yes i tried lowering that and core wouldnt oc) I dont see how it could be a power issue, my axp ran at 1.8v. I have tried setting cpu and ram back to stock clocks and voltages, and even then I cannot overclock my gt anymore, is it dying? I have a leadtek which has the nice copper cooler on it, I have never seen my temps rise above 71c, after hours of rthdribl. If I still had my old setup I would try it in there (sold it), as of right now it seems i killed it with my oc from before :( I would just like to know if anyone can suggest soem mroe troubleshooting, I seem to remember a thread about this before going to a new mobo decreased the overclock, but I cannot find it. my power supply is an antec truepower 480w. Thanks for any help, id like to get it working properly at LEAST at stock now.

probably a motherboard issue....i dont know what but did u install chipset drivers?

I have in fact installed chipset drivers. updated them through the msi liveupdate...i think i will try official update from nvidias website next. its funny everyone was sayign this was THE mobo to get to oc an a64 with agp yet the board sux (really horrible voltage options for example) also i forgot to mention, with the vid set to 400/1100, it actually works, but weird 3dmark problem - before each test or load screen, the screen dulls and sits for 3 seconds or so, but never locks up durign the test (score sux too) I used to have a decent 5300 in 05 but lately I am lucky to hit 5k at all...

THE board to get for overclocking would be a DFI lanparty (that is a socket A mobo if im not mistaken, correct?) or an abit NF7-S

so someone told you the wrong thing

and yes...it sounds like a mobo issue to me, but i cant be shure

yeah, the options for athlon64's with agp are slim, thats why (i dont think dfi made an nforce3 mobo). if it truly is mobo then i might have to gut this thign and sell it off, even tho i just got it. this setup was supposed to be an upgrade to last me 2 years cuz of the agp vid card, but its holdign it back! almost wish i had my old xp back now :(

my DFI board is the BEST socket 754 AGP solution out there right now...

i don't know when they will release their socket 939 AGP board so the MSI neo2 is the best 939 there is right now (IMO and in most other ppls opinions)

In the Bios, try to set the agp aperture size to 256 and disable fast writes. See if that helps. Did you raise the agp to 67mhz and lock it when you oced the cpu? That is also important.

I did set it to 67 to activate the lock, but the apeture size was 128. im pretty sure I turned fast writes off too, but its spring break now and ill actually get a chance to try all this out. Thanks again for all the replies.
