What type of gains will be from a 260 to a 280? It's only gonna cost me $100 to get it, then I'll have another card to sell to make it cheaper. Will it be worth it?

100 bucks + a 260 (say 150 bucks for 250 total worth) does not seem worth it at all though. u could get a 5850 for 280$

hell you could sell your 260 for 150 , and buy 2 4870's for 100(craigslist) each and that would smoke a 280.

about to go to a 28" 1900x1600 I hope ! Right now, it's a 22" 1680x1050.
My Gf's son's, 8800 died. So he needs something kinda fast.

I've got a Q9550 Asus P5Q pro running xp pro and win7
Antec earth watts 650.
4gb ddr2 1066 mghz.
I cashed in my change, so it's no money outta pocket...

If you plan on upgrade from 260 to 280, it is not worth it for the price, insisted go with a 5850.

Also, I believe the you made a mistake with the resolution. For a 28", it should be 1900 x 1200.

I would pay a few more bucks to get either sapphire, xfx or asus.

not worth it...a GTX 280 is on par with a GTX 275. A GTX 275 is only a step up in performance of say 10-15% tops.

I would go with XFX for the warranty and when time to sell, you can transfer the warranty.

if you can do it on the cheap then yes. it isn't that much of an upgrade but for a hundred bucks its a pretty good deal. hell you should be able to sell yours for that.
