Sorry in advance I didn't have a lot of time to search the forums.

I'm thinking of upgrading, and was going to go AMD because its cheaper and the future AM3 chips will work in an AM2+ mobo.

Is there a point to going with the current Intel LGA755s or are they being phased out?

I don't want something that'll be useless in a year.

Wait a bit if you can and go LGA775. Prices are about to go down and you will get performance to go with your savings.
