Well, I found out this week that my Badaxe2 will run my old E6600 @ 3510MHz @ 1.35 vCore on air. What was holding me back was selecting an improper memory/nb strap. I had thought that this was the best of the 8 or 10 E6600's that I had tested, but had never gotten anywhere until last week using it on the Badaxe2 with the wrong straps! Can anyone point me to documentation that universally explains these memory/nb straps?

Would an overclocked Q9450 on air in a P5Q Deluxe or Rampage Formula be a true upgrade to this overclocked E600 Conroe that I have resurrected?

I have already tried the E6600 in the P5Q Deluxe, and did not get any more out of it than with the Badaxe2.

I would be doing some encoding, so I know that the bigtime bonus goes to the quad with those tasks.

Yes, I wish I had been thinking about this site again when I declared my Badaxe2 to be defective! Proper settings, and it is running as well with the E6600 as the P5Q-Deluxe.

Are the straps in this calculator:

good for ANY FSB-based board, or just the D975XBX2?

Anyhow, I have been comparing the Badaxe2 to the P5Q-Deluxe for a few days using the same E6600,

P5Q-Deluxe advantages:

1.) The P5Q-Deluxe lets me lower the multiplier to 8 on the E6600 and will go much higher fsb than the Badaxe2.
2.) Ability to store two o/c profiles in CMOS is very convenient.
3.) MUCH cooler 65nm northbridge running at much lower voltage helps get higher fsb.
4.) More fsb!


Badaxe2 advantages:

1.) Probably a better built product (the Badaxe2) all around than the P5Q or other high-end board. Disagree?
2.) Simple board layout.
3.) fsb doesn't matter as much with the multi at 9x.

I can run the Badaxe2 at 390fsb X 9.0 = 3510MHz with no other cooling other than the Ultra 120 Extreme @ 1,35v Core 1.6v MCH. On the P5Q-Deluxe, I can run with a much lower northbridge voltage at the same fsb.

I have not determined the highest fsb that I can achieve on the P5Q-Deluxe at an 8x multiplier, but I don't think I can get to 430, and doesn't seem that there is any reason to.

A P5Q-Deluxe won't in any way future-proof someone today, will it? But it will out-fsb the Badaxe2,
 
The straps could be different on some boards, but that can be used as a good guide.

The BA2 will let you lower the multi as well.

My BA2 will not let me lower the multi.
I am using BIOS version 2809.

Is there some trick I don't know how to do?
 
You have to enable it, then change it. I'm not near my PC right now, so I can't help. Did you read thru the link - no info there?
