Upgrade to what & when

As you can see from my signature, I put together a pretty good computer over the summer (spending a lot more than I had intended), with the exception of the video card which I "borrowed" from my old computer with the idea that I'll upgrade it by the end of the year.

It is almost the end of the year now, and I could use some advise on what to upgrade to, and whether I should take advantage of the Thanksgiving Day Sales and buy this week, or hold off a month or so (after finals, aka ~New Year's Week/Early January) and hope the prices drop after the holidays. I've been looking at the 9800Pro /w it's HL2 offer, but I don't know much about the current vid-cards out there and am open to suggestions (both ATI and Nvidia - I still love my old Geforce2MX)

My budget is (and will stay at) approximately 200 dollars for the video card. I'm probably going to put the AIW 9000Pro back in my old computer after the upgrade, so that I can still use one of my comps as a TV without forcing myself to buy another AIW.

Right now I play mostly UT2004 which performs fairly well (albeit with graphic settings on low, physics on high), but once I upgrade my vid-card I want to take advantage of this comp with the likes of Doom3/HL2. What would be the best buy for me now? If I waited until after finals and the holidays (when I'll actually have time to enjoy the new card) would I be able to get anything significantly better for the same price?

I think that's $46 over MRRP - good to see the law of the market benefitting the consumer. It might be best to wait on that baby a couple of weeks till more of them reach the suppliers and see if you can save that $46.

EDIT - sorry, forgot to second the motion for the 6600GT. It performs a league above the 9800Pro in Doom 3 and is generally a fair bit better across the board in every other game - they are only occasionally tied. And the 9800Pro is not a bad card at all.
