I did search for this and found nothing. My question is:

Are there plans to upgrade from an ancient vB version to the new 3.5 version?

I ask this because I added a signature and in it I changed the type size and bolded it, well on preview it doesn't format but shows the vB code that is used to format. So I am sure an upgrade would fix this.

The vB code options are simply off in signatures. (Says so right on the signature area in the user cp) An upgrade will do nothing for this.

Oh, OK, I must have missed that. But my question still stands.

I am confused on why you say vB 3.0 is ancient. It was released less than a 8 months ago and is still widely used.

vB 3.0.1 has been out for a bit of time. But 3.5 was just released. I am just asking.

v3.0.1 is a very stable platform at the moment. Since this one of the more complex web sites to use vBull, there is never a rush to upgrade until all of the more obvious bugs are worked out by the smaller sites. This site is highly customized to handle the amount of traffic we generate and upgrading is never taken lightly because of the distinct possibility of doing more damage than improvement.

Said it better than I could have Major. But you did leave out the fact that the actual upgrade for us is going to be a HUGE pain in the ass and a lot of work. John, our VBul Guru, is currently getting us ready to make the move while trying to make it as painless as possible. With our level of customization, it is not just as easy as updating a few files.

Not to mention, that last time the forums was upgraded, it took 3-5 months (don't exactly remember) to get the forums back up. To me, if there are no major, major updates in the next version of vB, then we should wait until 4.0

Actually it was two months, but who's counting. The forum was up and running a good while before it went public to the staff so we could revamp the entire forum layout and do the custom tweaks to make it look and feel much the same as before. It was tested out, reworked, retested, etc until the consensus told us it was what was wanted and Kyle was happy with the new format and it was rock solid stable. The next upgrade will be easier and this version of vBull makes future upgrades much easier to install. We also have the addition of our resident vBull guru Admin John who oversees the installation of the vBull software which makes Kyle's and Cliff's job much easier. So stay tuned. :)

3.5.0 is an awesome version. ExtremeOverclocking is using it and quick replies, edits, and all that good stuff are much improved.
