So, I'm seriously considering upgrading to an ssd for my main drive. What's the #1 recommended ssd out there right now. I was looking at the Crucial C300 series, but I don't need SATA III,

I don't want to spend too much... I could probably get by with 64-80GB range. Any suggestions??

Crucial C300 64GB SSDs are pretty much the the best bang for the buck SSDs out now.

... And SATA III drives are backwards compatible with the SATA II bus.

True, and I knew that SATA II/III were backwards compatible, I was just thinking that perhaps there was other good alternatives.

I don't know if it's a strange international pricing obscurity but the OCZ Vertex 2Es are actually cheaper over here atm. Really weird.

Doesn't matter. There not as good as a drive & I would not buy a OCZ drive now at all given the underhanded BS they pulled with the different chips.
