Was doing some browsing on the 'Egg and saw the (new to me) FX series cpu's. Now, I'm getting the itch to upgrade my processor. My current rig is below and I'd like to know if the FX 4100 would be a drop-in replacement with my current mobo. I've seen that some people have to update their bios in order for it to be compatible. Will I need to update my bios? Also, is this a good mobo for that cpu or should I also look at getting a new mobo? I'd prefer to keep my cost as low as possible and if it's a drop-in replacement I can keep all my other current hardware.
EDIT: would it be just as good an upgrade if I just look at a Phenom quad core if I really wanna keep the cost down?
