Should I go with a conroe or go with a 3600+ am2 and wait for barcelona? Iam upgrading from a mobile barton so anything should be a speed boost. All other components of the systems will be the same(8800gts, 2gbram, etc)
 
it depends. if money is not an issue, then definitely go with a C2D setup, it simply does everything better. if you are pretty set on getting a barcelona or agena when they come out, then there's nothing wrong with getting a am2 setup and using a 3600 brisbane as a stopgap. if you're just going to get a whole new am2+ setup when they come out and want the best right now, then go C2D.
 
It's all just speculation now so you'll have to wail awhile to know. No wait nevermind just go to theinquier.com, should find some good base pricing. :rolleyes:
 
I would go with a lower-end Core 2 Duo and overclock it. Any overclocked Core 2 Duo will be faster than any current overclocked AM2 and there will be better boards available, as well as a socket change, when barcelona is released.
