Hey all,
I am thinking about upgrading to an ATi Radeon 9700 Pro. These can be found on eBay for $130. Considering I have an nVidia FX5200 now, should I get the ATi Radeon 9700 Pro?
Thanks,
EgyptBoy20

well it depends... what will you be doing with it? if your just doing some word proecessing and using the internet and some light gamming then your current card will work perfectly. but if your trying to play doom3, half life 2 or far cry then yeah, you should upgrade.

Ok thanks!
One more question...How can I find out how many watts is my power supply?

Look at the label on the side of the power supply. Be sure to note the rating for "total combined output". Without getting too complicated, that's the answer you're looking for.

If you are wanting to play mostly DX9 based games then get the 9700 Pro. As long as you have a strong 350 or better power supply you should be ok running it.

PS Sabre, check your PMs.

so what are you going to be doing with this new card?

I would say at least 350w..that is for an ultra :) around 300watt is fine for the 9700pro

Yeah the 9700 runs DX9 great. Alot better than the FX/6200's. And if you overclock it, you can run with the slower 6600's, which is what i'm doing :)
