Well it's that time of the year again, time for me to upgrade one of my computers.

I have 2 one is a little better then the other. 9800 pro,P4 2.8,1 gig 3500 DDR. etc..
The other has 9600XT with a AMD 3000+, 768 GIG Ram, etc.

I'm going to upgrade both but for now I'm upgrading the lesser of the 2.

So want I want to upgrade is the

1. Video Card: I want a 6800 GT 256 DDR Nvidia dunno which company though. This is a for sure pick. and it's 100$ or so cheaper then the Ultra.

2. A new Motherboard. I was thinking of changing from AMD to Intel but I don't know of yet. What is currently the best AMD Board?

3. A new CPU I don't know if I want an Intel LGA775 P4 3.6 or higher or a AMD 64 3600+_ or higher which is better?

4. Ram: Does AMD boards support DDR2 as of yet? I have 768 DDR but I was thinking of get 2 new 512 DDR 2 or DDR 3500? Can you mix and match Ram? or does it have to be the same. The old ram is high quality no cheap shit.

Most of the other stuff I have like Optical drivves, etc..

I also need a new monitor bad I was thinking of going for the 22" NEC non-LCD. Or the 23" Apple LCD.

Alright that's it. Look good or should I change some stuff? It's not a major upgrade but it does take care of the major parts. That are need for futur games and such.

All those new upgrade won't make that much of difference (except for the video card), I would wait until dual cores come out and nForce4 to become mainstream.

This is for my secondary computer. SO upgrading now is good becasue it will last me 2 years. I have an other which I will upgrade later around march or so. Also what socet is the AMD 64? socket 754 or 940?

Well, there is socket 754, but there is also socket 939 and 940. From a mistake of mine a little while ago, I learned that the socket 940 needs EEC-RAM. The socket that gives the best performance is the socket 939, not to mention the most future-proof socket. I would go the AMD Athlon64 path, although with the rigs you have now I have to say that all you need is the nVidia 6800 in the AMD machine to make it complete.

SO just upgrade the video card for now and add some more Ram. WHich company makes the best GT6800 GT? I know BFG and eVGA, which has the Doom 3 bundle.

WHen is the Nforce 4 board available? I want to upgrade but don't want to spend 400$ on a AGP Videocard. WHen I can get a PCI-E with the new boards.
