im upgrading my curent comp.(ath. 2200+ t-bred b, radeon 9800, 2x 60 gig 7200 drives in riad 0, 2x sticks of corsair value solect pc 2700, fic kt4 mobo). well, im going to sell muchy of my curent system(mobo, proc, 1 of the hdds, case, ps, and firewire card, old radeon 9500 pro) to a freind for a few hundred (3-5) dollers(included in that price is a new cdrw and speekers) and get a asus k8v, ath. 64 3000+, zalman cnps7000a-aicu(aluminum+ copper), 2x sata 80 gig 7200 rpm(for raid), new case, new keybord (logitech mx cordless duo), rehostat(sp), and a new coppy of xp(my comp came with a restor cd). enywhay, i was wondering if i shoul give my freind(maby for a few $) my 1 gig of ram, and get new stuff

now what should i get? 512 corsair xms 3200, value solect 1 gig(2x 512)pc 3200, or keep my stuff, and have him get new ram. i do gamming, some blender, and photoshop. im leening twords 512 xms pc 3200 or even some faster stuff, but i want some help on this. keep in mind cost is a huge factor(+-$50 would be a big deel).

You'll probably want new RAM, seeing as you have PC2700 now, the computer will have to run with a divider to use that memory, so it won't be running in a 1:1 ratio, and that will slow it down a bit...

But yeah, I'd go with PC3200, unless you'll be overclocking... But the Athlon 64's don't overclock well, so I doubt that's the case.

Welcome to the forum :D

thanks, for the welcom.

how about the 1 gig value select or other cheep(i like corsair) ram or 512 xms(or other high end) ram. i might oc a little, but nothing more then just a few mhz(just so i can tell my freinds im running an oced ath. 64 :p)

Get the best PC3200 you can in your price range. Corsair makes some good stuff, so get teh best, you're willing to spend on.

Just make sure you get PC3200 so you can run them without a divider.

That's very good RAM. I'm running 512MB myself, and I haven't noticed any slowdown due to it. Of course, I game and program, I don't photchop.

right now im working on 1 stick of muskin 512 pc 3500 plus level 1, cas 2-3-3 (http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=20-146-298&depa=0)

or

corsair xms 512 3200 cas- 2-3-3, (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-145-420&catalog=147&depa=0 )

again, budget is and issue, but the price diff. isnt that huge, i like the black heet spreader of the xms, but i dont find the green that bad. also, im probebly not getting my new rig set up for a few months, so they will probebly have dule chanel ath. 64's in the 939 socet. so what are your recomendations
