Upgrade question AGP or PCI-E

I know off the bat that going with a PCIe video card is the better choice but is PCIe something that is going to be sticking around for awhile or is it just something new that will fizz out quickly and something new will replace it? Cause if PICe is what card manufactures are going to be making for the next little while i will go with that.
 
if you want to be get cards a few years from now get PCI-e

i think the x800 generation is the last thing i will be able to get for my super awesome soyo kt600 ( now discontinued =( )
 
PCI-Express has alot of headroom in terms of bandwidth and implimentation. Sure it will get slightly newer standards and likely some feature or bandwidth upgrades over the next 5 years or so. But you'll still be able to get cards for it for awhile. If you like high end video cards and play games alot, you'll need to go PCI-E as ATi and Nvidia don't intend to bring high end video cards out, in the next generation cards for AGP. ATi's been that way so far now. Look at their lineup. With the exception of the X800 series all the new ATi cards are PCI-E. Their AGP line is tired and old.
