Upgrade path?

Just looking for the best, bang for the buck upgrade path for me.


Current specs:

Asus 26" 1920x1200
Vista 64
9450@3.2
2x2gb Mushkin ram
Gigabyte P45 mobo, need to figure model
Antec earthwatts 600? I think need to look.
EVGA 280GTX
X-Fi titanium

What would you do to get better graphics? On the tightest possible budget to performance ratio. I am in no hurry, just want to plan ahead a bit. I can run any game well , but the top new games I can't max out at all.

I was thinking maybe just start saving up now and buy whatever next years top card will be. Just not sure if that will be enough horsepower.

What top new game can't you max?

And with a GTX 280 you'd be planning ahead to at least Fermi if you have a tight budget. I don't think anyone can predict what "next year's top new card" will perform like and what kind of games will bring a GTX 280 to its knees in that time.

Well, for instance, the diff b/w enthusiast and gamer on Crysis: Warhead. Far Cry 2 brings my temps WAY up. I can see the writing on the wall.

I do have a 1TB drive that I probably should just use for storage. I already know it needs a reformat. Something weird got through and yeah. Issues.

I do have an old 74gb raptor I might try and use just for games. The new solid states are tempting too. Just looking for ideas.
