Planning...no...NEEDING to upgrade my video card. I am running an Asus A7N8X-E dx, with a Barton 2500 OCed to 3200, 1GB RAM, and currently running a slightly OCed FX5600 128MB (dont get nasty, I only payed $60 for it!). With these specs, will I notice the difference between a 9800 and a 6600GT? Is their something more in line with the rest of the system? ATI or NVidia doesn't much matter to me. Thanks.

The comp will be fairly balanced with either of those, so it really does come down to preference. I'd say get the GeForce for the usual slew of reasons, but also because I had a DFI NF2 board that was incompatible with a BBA Radeon 9700 Pro! (That's why I now have my GF6800. )

yeah... 6600gt is good too..but anything is better than the 5600....hehe....a 9600pro will be a big leap from the 5600 :) but yeah my votes goes for the 6600gt

Just dont wanna get an overkill card for my older mobo/processor combo. Thanks for the input.

don't worry :) people who has xp 2500+ @ stock has x800xtpe or 6800ultra's :p

I am still running an old XP2500+ CPU with a 6800GT. I do plan on upgrading the CPU soon to take better advantage of the card. I also plan on keeping the card for the next 2 years.

Hey, we are in the same boat!

AXPs for LIFE!

6600gt will give you a good bit more performance, but even with your system a 6800gt would not be bottlenecked TOO much.

How much do you want to spend? if you can go up higher, i would look into a 6800NU....i saw one for sale in the for sale/trade forum for 240.

Since there are still a TON of Agp boards, it will probaly last you when you decide to move to a A64 system. I know mine did =) I went from the same setup....I had a A7N8X-E deluxe with a unlocked barton 2500 @ 218x10.
