quad core seems ok, but what about the E8400?
anyone know the roadmap for some of intels CPUs for the socket?

dont feel like getting a 1333 FSB mobo, ( new mobo will require complete OS overhaul)
maybe its worth it, maybe its not...

I don't think we're going to get any significant change compared to what we already have on LGA775 - after all, Penryn-class CPUs are the end of line for the socket, which will be replaced for Nehalem. I don't think I'd want to upgrade from an early Conroe to a Penryn, especially if it's not a drop-in upgrade, unless you badly need more power within the next year.

got a 6300 running around 2.96 just shy of 3. (for noise level reasons i had it over 3)

so i dont know, i feel a pinch in cpu power every so often.
but i see the 8400 stock a 3 with 6mb in L2
and people saying it can do 4 easy, makes me wonder.
makes me also wonder if any new chips will be introduced.
