I currently have 2 gtx 560 ti's in SLI. The one gig versions. I play a lot of games but mainly BF3. My problem is that with this SLI setup BF3 runs like shit. I have huge FPS drops to the point the game black screens and locks up or starts artifacting. Its not a bad card problem, i think its a Vram issue. My brother has the same exact cards and the same exact problems. I have tried multiple drives with no change. If i play bf3 with just one card it runs fairly well. So on to my question. Newegg has that $50 off coupon right now that expires tonight!!!. If i were to upgrade would you go with 7950 ATI or the gtx 580 ? I can get the 7950 at $420,, the evga 580 at $350 if i go with the refurbished one $430 new. The 7970 is just really friggin expensive at $520 after discount. Or maybe just fk it and wait till the nvidia 600 series come out? From what i read that new series is going to be $$$$$$$$$. Id like to sell my 560's now to get the most back out of them though. What u think? Gigabyte z68 board, 8 gigs 1600 ram,, 2500k at 4.0 gig, 120 gig WD -SSD drive.

Upgrade or not? 7950 / 580 or 7970

Wait. Just Wait. New cards are coming soon, I bought a GTS 250 instead of anything high end because the 4xx series was out a month after purchase. I ended up holding onto the GTS 250 until I got a GTX 560 Ti. It was well worth the wait, no headache to deal with from the nonsense with the 400 series, and I got my DX 11 card with the CUDA cores I needed. There were a few games I had to throttle due to hardware limitations, but nothing significant. Tax refunds should be coming out around the same time as the new cards, so I'd consider that a sign 
There's not much to recommend the 580 at this point except that BF3 is the one game where it consistently beats a 7950...At stock clock speeds anyways. After a 30%-50% OC, the 7950 is probably going to be coming out on top, use less power, and hopefully drivers for the 79xx architecture will continue to mature for some time.
If you can swing it though, the 7970 is really the way to go. Performancerice ratio is about the same on the 7950 and 7970, and the coolers on the 7970's are consistently better than their 7950 counterparts.
