Upgrade or new build

It seems that my GTX 470 is starting to show its age. I can't blame it though, I game on a Dell U3011 at 2560x1600 and when I built this machine I was using 2x 20inch non-widescreen LCD's. Lately even League of Legends has been dropping a lot of frames, which is upsetting considering it's not the most graphically demanding game.

I once tried to upgrade to 2x 6950's, and for what ever reason the machine hated them. I did testing with single and double configurations all of which resulted in LESS fps, for all intents and purposes, than the single GTX 470. Keep that in mind when answering the following question:

Would it be worthwhile to invest in a new card (or two) to power my U3011 and expect 60fps 99% of the time. Streaming is something I'd like to do as well, and I can pretty much forget about that if I'm already not seeing 60fps all the time.
or...
Should I look into building a new rig all together? My specs are in my signature. Any expert advice would be appreciated. While I consider myself an enthusiast, and I do put in a good amount of time researching parts when building a new system, I am no where near an expert, nor do I have anything near mastery over the knowledge that goes into super building. But I know there are some very smart people here, so I'd love your help.

Thanks!

if your i7 930 is overclocked, your system is fine.

I would put money on the GTX 470 being your framerate bottleneck for 2560x1600 resolution.

Just get a new gpu (wait for the new radeons to be released of course and see the reviews).

Why do you go straight to Radeons? Why not a 780? Why not a Titan? (if money's not an issue). I am hesitant to purchase another Radeon GPU for this system since the 6950(s) I tried caused such unexplainable trouble.

The i7 930 is not OC'd, never had the balls to touch it since I have no experience changing timings.

There's no point in buying a new Titan right now at $1000 when the new Radeons are rumored to be just as fast for $600.

if not, then no harm, no foul. competition is good and hopefully the Titan price drops. Then you can get that and the release of the new Radeons is still a good thing!

I would wait for hawaii to land so prices drop and then try picking up a reduced price 770 or 7950, depending on your budget. Your cpu is still pretty good, but if you want to upgrade to haswell it wouldn't hurt.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. It seems to be the general consensus that it's time for a card upgrade, and not quite necessary to get a new cpu (and a whole machine). Although I'm trying to learn more about LGA 2011 versus 1150 as a friend insists 2011 "is the future." Despite the fact that there are great Haswell chips out like the 4770K that use 1150. That'll be a good day or ten of reading in the Intel CPU forum...

I'm going to look into overclocking my i7-930k to its potential (3.8-4.0ghz) and I guess I'll start saving for a 770 or 780 or something. We are post Hawaii, and as exciting as all the Radeon announcements were, no nvidia price drops yet :p

If anyone has experience with OC'ing and the time (and patience) to hold this noob's hand. I would really appreciate making friends with someone more knowledgeable in this area. I have started to read the overclock.net guide, but it still seems like a pretty daunting process. People here seem to be pretty happy to help and share their knowledge, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
