Here's my current rig:
AthlonXP(Tbred) at 200x11 for 2.2GHz (100% cool and stable)
A7N8X mobo
1GB HyperX
ATI X800 Pro at 500/500 (also 100% cool and stable)
Dell 2001FP LCD
I'm trying to decide if I should go ahead and drop $300-400 on an A64 cpu and mobo, or just wait until next year. My 3dMarks are roughly 18k on '01, 10k on '03, and (IIRC) around 4500 on '05. I'm currently running HL2 and BF:V at 1600x1200, 2xAA/4xAF with details at max and get very playable frame-rates. HL2 DOES drop into the high 20's from time to time, but it's not too bad. My LCD pretty much demands that I run at 16x12 unless I want to run an interpolated rez (ugh) or have a black border around my game (not as bad, but still undesirable).
Would going to a 2-2.2GHz A64 really get me that much more performance? I know it's better, but enough to justify an upgrade?
Thanks for any input.
