Well it isn't running D3 like I would like it too. I was thinking about liviing with it until newer cards come out. I also thought of getting the X800 XT when it becomes available. I am looking to spend 500 ish. When are the post-X800 cards coming out?

Also, I want to buy a ATI card that supports TV viewing and recording. What do I look for in a card for that? I don't think so but I will ask anyways, Does my retail Sapphire 9800pro 128MB have TV options?

TV viewing and recording: WinTV PVR 250 or other model

Almost all ATI's have TV out but only All-in-wonders and VIVO's have TV in. Regardless, the PVR250 is the right tool for that job, you won't be disappointed. I would suggest you browse htpcnews website.

I would also like to know if anyone knows when the next gen after x800 is due.

I just got my x800 Pro VIVO a few days ago and flashed to x800 XT and I'm loving it. Doom3 now plays like I want it to and I'm sure HL2 will be kick ass.

I was going to wait till after x800 but a) I'm REALLY glad I've got my x800 now and b) I'm sure I'll have whatever is after x800 too.

My x800 feels TWICE as fast as my "old" 9800 Pro. Get yours today. :)

Sounds good. I am doing my research on the "VIVO"s right now. Also can you explain to me the difference of TV-IN and TV-OUT?

Thats wierd, I ran Doom 3 @ 1280x1024 with no AA and it averaged 40-60fps! Lowest I saw was 25, which still aint bad :D

Same thing here at medium quality. I really dont see much of a difference between high and medium. 128mb 9800pro @ 450/370. I'm gonna upgrade when the 512mb Nvidia comes out.

i get like 45ish in timedemo with my 9800pro @ 450/370 and my a64 @ 2.5ghz
High quality, minor tweaks to increase graphic quality, no aa and at 1024/768
i average 60fps almost all the time in game though, and rarely if ever drop below 30fps

if you have $500 to spend would you consider waiting for the next gen cards to come out with 512mb and stuff? Thats the way i would go about, that and it would be just as long waiting for a 6800u / x800xt backorder almost :D then again are all the high end next gen cards going to be PCI-E? cause im not quite ready to change platforms ><

i dont know much about TV viewing and recording other than saying to get an All-In-Wonder card, i have a PCI TV tuner card that sucks total balls and cant display a low resolution TV image with any thing resembling clarity or sharpenss, i feel like im watching a 1960's tv station though this thing

I just got my 9800 Pro with 256 MB RAM. With res 1024x768 and Ultra High quality I get 38.3 FPS.
