Upgrade Ideas

Lo everyone,

I'm contemplating my next computer upgrade, would appreciate some comments.

Current system is:

XP3200 Barton
1gb DDR 400
250gb SATA
80gbIDE
Radeon 9800 Pro
etc..

Currently i play games ok, but I guess i feel a bit left out with the 64bit generation and dual core processors coming out.

But i've been thinking this:

Games currently don't run nativly at 64bit processors and im guessing it will take a while for them to do so. Also SLi and Dual Core support hasn't matured and programmers haven't utilised it greatly yet.

So do you think my PC would be ok for until about Christmas? or should i start looking now to upgrade?

you shoudl be ok.

just depends.

if you think yoru box sucks and are getting pissed ..

then slap in a geforce 6800.

if not then dont upgrade.

note: nvidia will be announcing its new generation of cards june 21st.

so it might be best to wait at least untill july when they are out in force.

heh...I've slowly been upgrading my main rig and its still not as good as yours... but thats what I get...

Quick question: What PSU do you have? I would like to know its wattage and the rating on the +12, as I am thinking about buying a Radeon 9800 Pro. Thanks. As for your question, I think you should be OK till about January or Februaury.
