So I have an outdated 965P-DS3 rev 3.3 with an E6420 @ 2.13 because I have crappy KVR DDR2-800

So I thought I was going to be able to go to an i7 system but my wife just explained to me how I am only allowed to spend $300. OUCH! WTF!

So, I was looking at a QX6800 or 6850 for $205 or $250 and the Q9550 for $250.

My board unofficially supports the Q9550 and I have not read anyone that hasnt been able to post a Q9XXX cpu so I am not worried there. If I get this now I can upgrade to better brand RAM later or just run the cpu at stock speeds. I just upgraded my 8600 GTS 256mb to a GTX 260 and I am barely getting 15fps more so I want to upgrade badly to a quad core.

Any suggestions?

---Edit

What if I kept my CPU and bought a UD3P and some good RAM and just OC'd the shit out of it?

Q9550 for $250? $210-220 max. if you have microcenter somewhere near you, if don't I can send you some;) and start selling something for raise your money, $300 it's to low.

I think I would sell my Q9550 if I could get $250 for it. I paid less than that for it November 2008 (well with the help of live.com).

You should easily be able to get a used Q9550 for much less then $250 US.

I ended up going with a AMD 955 BE, Asus M4 EVO, G.Skill DDR3.

Not bad for $330 total plus I am a step ahead with DDR3
