I've got a AMD X2 4800 sckt939 on a Asus A8N32(think that's it) and got a XFX GX260 Black Edition vid card. L4dead has a pause in it during game.
I can get a Q9300 for 179.99
The I7 920 for maybe 230-IF the Fry's deal is still going.....
Not sure which way I should go- I'm on a VERY limited budget. I could get the Q9300 Mobo and ram. I don't know if I could get all of the I7 stuff at once.
Would the Q9300 be a good upgrade? Or should I wait aand buy the I7 stuff one part at a time basically?
 
I would get a used Q6600 for $125 on eBay. And pickup a $120 mobo to go with it. And then spend $50 on 4GB of PC6400 DDR2 (corsiar XMS2, OCZ or GSKILL) The ASUS p5Q pro is a pretty descent mobo. Or you can look at mobo/cpu combo deals. On back friday I got an entire q9550 system (q9550 + p5q pro + 6GB of quality ddr2 + antec 650 W 80+ ps) for less than $500 ( actually around $400 when live.com sends me my cash back).
 
I don't know how to overclock. I know just enough to make it work most of the time.
Well maybe not that bad but close.
