So been riding a 7600GT for quite a while now and i wanna play some of the new games, i got about $400, what would would you suggest.

Current System specs:

Monitor: 22" 1680x1050, Play games at 1280x960 with 7600GT with just passing frame rates.
CPU: AMD 4600 X2
Mem: 2GB

Would like to play at monitors native res 1680x1050 with high settings, but i would be quite happy with 1280x960, AA is nice, but not really necessary.

I've been looking at those 8800 GT's, but which one? I have never tried ATi cards, so... i'm up for anything.

my PSU should be ok, its a corsair 520HX.

Buy the new 65nm 8800GTS to be released in Dec 07 with the D8P designation.

Make sure it is the EVGA brand, to make use of the 1 time 90 day step up program.

When the D8E 1TF card is released in Jan or Feb of 08, step into that card using your 1 time step up marker.

Then your just going to have to be happy with a 1TF card for a while..... ;)

That is my advice.......

I don't want to even try SLI. I'm a 1 card GPU guy.
Besides, you can only step up 1 card, 1 time. I don't want 2 Performance cards on my hands, looking to get into 1 Enthusiast card.

"The whole new high-end is codenamed D8E. Enthusiasts will have two chipsets on two PCB's with two huge power connectors. Most of you remember the 7950 GX2, and this will be a similar card, we heavily suspect that Nvidia can enable the eight cluster of this 65 nanometer chip and make the current 8800 GT chip even faster. If Nvidia does that, the 8800 GT chip will become an 8800 GTS 512MB, just with a touch of a flash tool".

The new 65nm GT is already almost an Ultra. An Ultra is rated around .5TF. Two 65nm processors with all clusters enabled would give us our 1TF speed. The D8E is nVidia's promised 1TF beast.

I will probably buy a new video card to get up and running on Dec 1st (like the new 65nm GTS), the 90 day step up program will put me clean out to March 1st. I think the D8E 1TerraFlop beast will be out by then.... :)

If this is true, and we update what we think we know...

D8M: Eighth generation Mainstream, previously named G98 (The current 8 series cards, 90nm processor design.)
D8M: The odd bird - (GeForce 8800 GTS SSC, 112 stream processors, 90nm processor design.) (Out now)

D8P: Eighth generation Performance, previously named G92 (The New 8800 GT, 112 stream processors, 65nm processor design.)
D8P: (The New 8800 GTS,with 112 stream processors -or- 128 stream processors, 65nm processor design.) Released in Dec 2007.
D8P: (The New 8800 GTX and or 8800 Ultra, with 112 stream processors -or- 128 stream processors, 65nm processor design.)

D8E: Eighth generation Enthusiast, Two chipsets on two PCB's with two huge power connectors. (Unconfirmed 2 65nm processor design, but good odds), Released in 1st Q 2008. (Fudzilla Card)

D9M: Ninth generation Mainstream, (Will be the GeForce 9xxx-series cards. PCIe 2.0 support, DirectX 10.1, wider memory controllers, up to 128-bits, and will be based on a 65nm silicon.)

D9P: Ninth generation Performance, (Adds the same features as D9M, but the memory controller width will top out at 256-bits, and will be based on a 65nm silicon.)

D9E: Ninth generation Enthusiast, Codenamed G100, (Will incorporate all features of D9P and add a 512-bit memory bus, and will be based on a 65nm silicon.)
NVIDIA has not provided any other guidance or release date on D9E. (Fudzilla's release mid 2008)

So this could be our 1TF card.....
D8E: Two chipsets on two PCB's with two huge power connectors, (Unconfirmed 2 65nm processor design, but good odds), released in 1st Q 2008.
The D8E's info was not previously on the listing, from the information taken from the Dailytech site...
D8E was info from Fudzilla along with a D9E release time frame.
