have a vaio ra840G pentium d 2.8
first gen of dual core procs with 2gb of ram

upgraded from a x300 to an x800xl
now want to go further

the mobo is an asus with a 945 chipset and i'm pretty sure i could run a x19xx 512 card with an upgraded psu
(i'm thinking a cf ready card for my next rig)

mostly play shooters and the occasional game of CoH and BfME

does this sound possible?

also, should i go all out on a x1950/x1900xtx or wait till D10 and the new year?

I have a friend in the same situation, he has a XL and is looking to upgrade. The main thing is you current setup has the power to get you to the point they release the R600 and other ATI DX10 cards.
I would recomend that you save your pennies untill this time.

At the least I think we could expect a price drop once DX10 arrives.... I hope.
