My VP2770 is best part of 3 years old now and I've been looking around for a possible replacement but there's a lot of choice it seems at the moment.

Ideally I'd like 27 inch, 2560x1440. IPS or better is a MUST. PQ is most important to me.

Gaming 80% with general use 20%.

Budget - I don't mind paying for something if it's worth it!

Any suggestions?
 
That's a pretty damned good monitor pound for pound. It's going to really come down to: What do you realy want that this monitor doesn't already have?

Since this was the only criteria you stated: Stick with what you have going by this.



Viewsonic did make a 27 inch gaming gsync high refresh monitor, the viewsonic xg2703-gs that as far as I know only Newegg sells right now. All these types of monitors are using the AU Optronics panels so you're going to be playing some roulette.

A lot of us are on this fence. I have an NEC 2490wuxi with AW Polarizer and I keep going back and forth on this myself. It's 7 years old. I know I'll have to face the music at some point.

If you aren't lathered up for -sync and higher refresh rates then stick with what you have.

Thanks :) the 2703-gs was what I was actually looking at.

I like the Gsync idea now I've gone nvidia, I like the higher refresh and potentially better panel.

I know what I've got is still good, but it's the upgrade bug :)

Because they're all using these same AU Optronics panels... be prepared to do at least one exchange if you go for it. It's just how this scene has been.

Was looking at the Acer xb271hu. Seems to get great reviews and looks good.

Any thoughts?
 
Still pondering. Is it worth getting any of the current IPS 140-166Hz monitors this year?

It doesn't seem like there are any good 1440p freesync monitors. I would get a 1440p 165hz g-sync monitor that has the least backlight/ips glow.
I had a vp2770 and it isn't good for fps games at all, it is very slow compared to 144hz monitors. The vp2770 feels like playing with v-sync on.

XG2703 has a FreeSync variant but it's only available in China/Asia. The XG2703-GS is arguably one of the best 27" 1440p IPS monitors you can find, so I imagine the FreeSync version is just as good.

I'd be after gsync. Is it still worth getting one of the current models or waiting a bit more.

That monitor was supposed to come out by september last year and it hasn't. You can't count it as an existing monitor.
 
Got to be said, it's beautiful. Lovely smooth gaming aside, the PQ knocks my old one into touch :)
