I think my graphics card is crapping out... I can get to loggin screen, or boot into safe mode, but once I log in... the screen frezzes up and i get these colorfull circles... sometimes I can log in and be ok for a while, even play some games like Starcraft2 or BFBC2... but after a while, it just craps out. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the card 5 times... I have not taken the card out... but oh well.

SO.

I need a new graphics card... what should I get? I like Nvidia... and I like the 3d vision.

So whats a good deal? what should i be waiting on?

Right now i have a core i7 920
12gig ddr 3
gigabyte mobo.

Any thoughts?
 
I'm in the same boat more or less. GTX280 is aging. I just got a new U2711 monitor and the card goes in to vacuum cleaner mode every time I play any game at any settings now.

tomorrow the GTX590 is supposed to be announced with rumored availability on the 22nd. I haven't heard anything for pricing.

IMO here's your nvidia options, go with dual GTX460s in SLI. a single GTX580, or the upcoming 590

the 460s are cheap, 150-200. in some benchmarks 2 will beat a 580, but they can get noisy and I don't know how they perform with dx11 stuff. Since you still have that 280 I assume you hold to cards for a few years so the dx11 compatibility is a concern. the 580 and 590 speak for themselves.
 
Try updating your drivers if you have not. Not a high probability solution but easy to do.

Ok, well I need a new card Rocky... so here we go.

Right now I play BFBC2 and Starcraft 2. I WILL be getting Skyrim and BF3 for sure.

I play on a 55' LCD TV with a surround sound system in 1080 settings (highest rez my TV has), How much do I want to spend? Probably not more than $300 but will spend more if its worth it. I got a 1000 watt PSU, so no problem there.

Lastly, I want an Nvidia card as I do play games in 3D... I was thinking the 560Ti. Price point is killer and it looks like a boss card.

Any thoughts? I am a stickler for a steal or a good deal, any out there?
