I've been using an AV-710 (envy24 chipset) for a couple years now, but I'm wondering how it stacks up nowadays and if it supports all the features in the newest games & blu-ray. If not, what is a good sound card to upgrade to?
The AV-710 should have no problems with gaming. I'm personally "upgrading" to an M-audio Revolution 5.1 but its only for music--its the only sound on the market I'm aware of that has a 88.2KHz sample rate output (this is mainly for stereo music).
As far as Dolby TrueHD and DTS-Master--no sound cards are capable of decoding those formats at this point.
