Would one of these... mid range cards (6670, 5570, geforce 450, etc with 1gb) be much of an upgrade for a radeon x1900xt 512mb card @ 1900x1080? My wife plays EverQuest2, and she is getting lag, and choppiness. She has a C2D e4600 2.4ghz cpu with 4gb ram. Any thoughts?

Yes. I don't think you fully realize just how outdated/weak that card is by modern standards.

should see at least double the performance; wouldn't go with a geforce 450 when the better 5770 can be had for cheaper. would not buy a 5570 when you can get the better 5670 for $4 more. would not go with a 6670 when the better 5770 can be had for $10 more. so depending on budget, i would recommend either a 5670 @ $64 before $10 m-i-r or 5770 @ $110 (where the 5770 will be at least 50% faster than the 5670 on avg.)

A x1900xt is roughly equal to a GT 430. Link

What a great link thank you. I have a XFX 4850 and I got so confused with what to upgrade too. So basically if I go up at least 3 levels (my 4850 is 8 levels down from the top Radeon) then I should see a great performance increase.

Thanks so much

Thank you for the replies. Great info. I have been eyeballing the 5770, it can be hard to judge what performance gains I would get. The info here helps a ton.
