I'm about to purchase a 20" widescreen lcd and am looking to get a new video card. I currently have a Leadtek 6800NU 16pp/6vs @400/900 on a 3000+ running at 2.4ghz. Would I see a substantiable difference with a 6800Ultra at say 1680x1050? Would i be better off waiting for next gen cards? I"m looking for an AGP card only since I'm keeping everything else in my system, just looking to upgrade the video card. Will next-gen cards be available in AGP? Any info is appreciated

yes u would see quite a big difference at that res...but w8 for the next gen persoanlly...but they might not do agp...but if i were u id w8

yea youll get a bit more speed but its not worth the cost just wait for the next set of cards to come out

I would have to agree...The NU is a pretty capable card, just wait for a bit and get the next gen cards.

yes, and for now, you can run with the texture quality down so it dont feel up ur 128mb memory :)

thats what i did i went from a 6800nu to a 6800 ultra . it makes a nice diff at 1600x1200. recommended if you dont mind taking a 200-250$ hit to get one. Most games dont even support widescreen so its gonna be hard to run it at those resolutions

The reason I"m a bit iffy about waiting for next gen is because I"m not sure if they will support agp or not.

Oh they will. I doubt nvidia and ATi will say "fuck you" to, what, 70% of the market? Also, with all the work ATi put into making Rialto, I doubt they will stop using it with the x800xl.
