I'm doing some upgrading on a PC that is currently running a XFX 5750. The PC is running an Athlon II x2 which I'll be upgrading to a Phenom II x4 955 BE. Currently, this person plays Sims 3, and Civilization IV on the machine. Budget for a new video card is a high of 150 bucks. I'm wondering what the best bang for the buck video card would be for that amount, or should I keep the 5750?

Yesterday, Tigerdirect had a XFX 5830 on sale for $119 after MIR. That's probably the best deal I could have gotten, but I wasn't sure after reading reviews of the performance of the 5830. I decided to wait and ask you guys. I don't need a next gen card or anything, I just want something noticeably better than the 5750. Currently I've been eyeballing the an ATI 5770, and 5830. And the nVidia 460.
 
You can actually get a 6850 for about that after rebate right now. That is what I would go for- a bit less than double the performance of a 5750.

I was looking at the 6850's but I didn't know how much of a performance increase they would offer... Almost twice as good as a 5750 is definitely about what I'm looking for. Thanks for the suggestion. I think the 6850 it is!
 
Well, a 5850 is basically double a 5750, and a 6850 is slightly slower than a 5850. I went from 2x5750 in crossfire to 2x6850 in crossfire and its a heck of an upgrade :)
 
I went from a 5770 to a 6850 and it was a pretty significant upgrade, especially in DX11 games. For that price range though, you aren't going to get anything amazing. If you save up a little more money, the 6870 or 6950 will do the trick.
 
Thanks for the replies guys. I know 150 bucks is pretty low for a video card. When I went out and got mine I spend almost 400 bucks. This video card doesn't have to be anything amazing. It sounds like the 6850 might be the best way to go. Like I said, just something quite a bit better than the 5750, not something that's going to compete with the best video cards out there right now.
