Hey guys, my neighbor has a e6750 oc'd to 3.2 on stock voltage and he wants to swap it out for a q6600 but I say no. What do you guys think ? All he does is pretty much game and allthough he does have a 4870 his computer runs so nice I just don't think theres enough diff. there to begin fooling with it. Hopefully a few of you will respond so I can show him this thread regaurdless.

I say no, but if he really wants to he can buy the Q6600 i'm trying to sell lol.
It would defintaly help if he plays Supreme Commander at all...couple other games benefit too. The main reason for getting a quad though is future proofing, multi-tasking, video encoding.

Maybe if he gives you some cash with it. Else, you'll be getting the shorter end of the deal.
Gaming doesn't demand a quad unless he plays some very specific games (Crysis, Warhead and Supreme Commander). Stick with the dual unless he's planning to start doing other things with the machine (video editing, lots of Photoshop, 3ds max and the like).

Keep the C2D and if needed OC further. Unless he has threaded apps, don't waste money on a q6600 - while it is fairly new tech, it's not current and definitely not a clear cut step up. If anything, that $150 e8500 from Fry's the other day in the Hot deals section would be a much better choice IMO.
