Upgrade E6750 to E8500?

Is it worth it to upgrade my E6750 (OC 3.2) to E8500? I know the latter can go over 4.0 ghz air cooled so... I am looking at about a net $50 for the extra performance, or I can save up more and get a QX something at the end of the year... this is for high end gaming and CS3 stuff.....
 
aaaay for $50 go for it. You may even be able to hit 4.2Ghz on that chip.
 
Get the e8500 now (I always ask why not the e8400..) as there's sure to be some steep depreciation for the e6xxx with the upcoming price cuts (if you're selling e6750).

good point, i was thinking of waiting till black friday but ya, its hard to win win isnt it... if u sell high u also gonna buy high... but for $150 i gotta take thie E8500... thats why the 8500 btw, bec of this sale.
 
Meh, you won't see an appreciable difference in gaming or anything. Your overclock also seems kind of mild, you could probably increase that a bit if you wanted.

i'd have to agree with this.. its not worth it to go from an e6750 to an e8500..you could overclock your cpu more..the only good upgrade you'll do is if you go to a Q6600 or even better a Q9550..
 
I went from a E6600 to a E6850 and barely noticed any difference. Granite I was able to get 600MHz more out with the E6850 but it was hardly noticeable in basic multitasking. However, going from the E6850 to my current E8400 was a somewhat noticeable improvement. I have noticed that my antivirus/spyware scans are finished a little bit quicker and my fps has improved in games that are more CPU dependent (ex: CS:S).

Don't bother with the QX chips. The increase in gaming performance doesn't mirror the increase in price.
