When I switched from my 8800GT to this 5870, I did a fresh Win7 install with it. I want to avoid that if possible.

I have two 6950's coming tmrw and I want to make sure what I play to do will work.

Since I am upgrading from a 5870 I don't have to uninstall the drivers, I can just install the card and it should recognize it, correct? Since it's an AMD card?

Or should I uninstall the drivers, swap the cards, then just reinstall the drivers?

I don't mind doing that, I just want to avoid reinstalling windows, I have too much crap on this

when i upgraded from my two hd4870s crossfire to the hd6970, i uninstalled all ATI/AMD drivers and ran driver sweeper than finally turned my computer off and put in the 6970. when windows 7 came up, i cancel out of the "detecting new hardware..." and installed the 10.12a hotfix drivers. i haven't had any troubles.

this was a big dee dee dee moment for me. I upgraded from a 5850 to 6950 and figured it would be a straight plug and play. Apparently the drivers for the 6xxx series is slightly different than the 5xxx series, so I had to uninstall those drivers and install the new ones. After that, not a single problem.

Alright, I think I'll do that.

Uninstall current drivers
Reboot to safe mode
Run driver sweeper
Install 6950's
Reboot and install 10.12a Drivers
