For those of you running them how well does the SN26p handle a 8800GTX? No problems as far as heat and power go?

I was running a pair of 7800GT's but one of my cards recently up and died on me :( so I'm on a single card now. I'd really like to get another year or so out of this box but with just a single 7800 World in Conflict and Bioshock chug at my native res (1680x1050) so I'm considering upgrading to a Winfast PX8800 GTX 768MB (I know others would probably fit but its the only one listed as supported on shuttle's site).

The warranty on my shuttle just recently ran out and since I bought it direct from shuttle my EVGA brand 7800 isn't registered so no RMA for me it looks like either.

I'd wait for Nov. and the new cards but I've got a feeling my SN26p either is too small or not a big enough PSU for them when they hit.

But I am worried if I fork out the cash for a 8800GTX it still might not handle the monster games coming out this fall at 1680x1050 (Crysis, UT3, etc..). Its not likely as they are built from the start with it in mind but I just keep thinking about how poor the performance is in DX10 with some of the recent patch games (Company of Heroes, Call of Juarez, and the like).

My current SN26p specs:

4400+ x2
2gigs of ram
7800GT
2x 200gb HD's

and as far as I can tell its the 350w shuttle PSU that was standard in the SN26p's not the newer 400w shuttle PSU.

consider the 640MB GTS, it won't consume quiet as much power as the GTS, is only a little slower, a lot cheaper, and smaller too.

Not much of a drop off IMHO and better suited to the shuttle.

I had thought about that but I would like to get another year or so out of this rig and still be able to run stuff at 1680x1050 which is why I was considering the GTX. Guess I just have to decide if the extra performance is worth an extra $100.

Also shuttle's official support list only has one 8800GTX (WinFast) and no GTS's listed. Not that it means much though 99% of the GTS's I'd think would fit if the GTX does.

the 8800GTS will be able to handle anything at 1600x1050 for a while yet.

take the shuttle compatibility list with a grain of salt. all of the 8800 cards come from the same factor afaik.
