I’m thinking of finally going 3-panel display with 2 video cards. I currently have a single XFX 5850 Black Edition and 2 Acer x223w (1680x1050).

I’d prefer a set of 1080 monitors but I’m afraid I’m stuck with these 1050s.

I was looking around for another 5850 but they are scarce!! And what are for sale are ridiculously expensive. Something about being ideal for bitcoin mining?!

So I was considering selling my 5850 and buying 2 other cards. I’m not married to AMD so I’d certainly consider Intel. I also do a lot of Premiere Pro video editing and I believe the newer Intel cards are superb at handling that.

Lastly, I’d like to keep the price down without sacrificing too much – if that means I end up with 2x Intel GPUs that would have just been about as powerful as 2x 5850s, I’m ok with that. I just can’t fathom spending the $200+ for another 5850 when I suspect there are newer, better cards for cheaper.

Any advice appreciated.

to be honest, just add the 3rd monitor and start going 3 monitors - no real reason to need the 2nd card...

get the 3rd monitor and the dp to dvi adapter and start using the 3rd monitor today.

Sell your 5850 NOW! That bubble will pop soon. Without having done any research lately, I vote 2x 6950 and unlock them to 6970s

lol what was that banzai?

I had researched into using a single 5850 to power 3 x223w's and I heard mixed results - some saying that their setup ran fine while others experienced stuttering. I do like to play games (Crysis, Dragon Age) and also render HD video.

Everyone knows that Intel's integrated graphics pwn every discreet card evar!

I am sorry, being such an AMD fan I will never accept that fact! Shame Nvidia went out of business from buying 3DFX all those years ago.
