Ok heres the scenario: He uses his comp mostly for gaming like CS:Source. He will be taking it to college too. He doesnt do any video editing or naythign like that.
hes got a gig of ram and a 9500pro GPU(a lil long in the tooth but one step at a time)
My friend has a P4 2.4ghz procesor in asus p4g8x mother board and he wants to upgrade the cpu to this. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=19-116-172&depa=0
Thats the fastest proc his motherboard will allow.
Would be be better of doing that or doing this
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=19-103-425&depa=1 amd athlon 3000+ 64bit
and a http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-136-147&depa=1
^is that a good mobo Im not to sure
so either the new intel proc and old mobo for 215ish or the amd setup for 230ish
Or should we spend a lil more and get the s939 version of the amd stuff
Also how much will the new setup help him compared to the old for each setup
Thanks a ton.
