Hi,

I have an Asus gtx 770 direct cu ii oc card.

When it comes to keeping the card up to date, should I download the drivers from the Nvidia site, or stick to only the ones Asus release through their site?

Usually I would just go Nvidia, but I am unsure if the driver configurations take in to account the 3rd party cooler or not..

Thanks,
_Luca

ASUS unfortunately is usually way behind. There are no vendor-specific things worth going for, IMHO. I always use the latest ones from nvidia.com.

~NVIDIA FANBOI~

Absolutely download only from nvidia.com. I would do that with any brand or make of Nvidia video cards, and go to amd.com for AMD drivers.

Well personalty I would get my AMD drivers from amd.com not nvidia.com but whatever floats your boat.

Awesome, downloading them all now :)

Thanks!

Edit: I spoke to a guy in the PC store and he said when they do custom builds they just install the LAN driver that came on the CD, then run Windows update (Windows 7) and it downloads all the latest drivers etc. The only one they update after that is the graphics card, unless there is a 3rd party sound card etc..

Sound about right?

The new thing from NVidia.....GeForce Experience.....(don't use it myself) is also a tool you can install on your machine; automatically installs the latest drivers and recommends game settings....plus a lot of other things.:D

I've never used a vendor's driver list....they are typically way behind.....always use the NVidia or AMD website.

Always get the real drivers, 3rd party manufacturers are far behind as others have already stated.

When I build a new computer, I never even use the CD.
I find out what hardware is on the board, then go to the respective manufacturer websites and download the latest firmware or drivers, put them on a USB stick and install.

Yes, it might take a little time, but that way I have all the latest drivers......even Windows Update can screw you every once in a while.:D
