Updating drivers = Blurry Screen

Hey guy I was wondering if you could help a friend of mine.

He said he just updated the drivers to his AGP 256MB Radeon (wasnt sure what model it was). I told him it was probably a resolution problem and to change his monitor to its native res but he said he likes to keep the screen larger because he doesnt like the tiny icons/print. He also said prior to updating the drivers the screen was fine at that res.

Anybody else got any ideas?

thats all the information that I could extract from him

updated the catalyst 6.3 to 6.4 drivers
screen went to being fuzz looking colors looked blurred
however he says in games it looks fine

what other info can I ask him? note: he had no idea what kind of video card it is other then its an ATI Radeon 256mb AGP card
 
he can make the icons and text large in the display properties and still have the benefit of running native resolution ,

the blurry screen could be that the color was changed to 16bit from 32bit ,

this happened to me

where exactly do u change the icons and text to large in the display props he wants to know.
 
start/settings/control panel/display/appearance

here you can change the fons size to large or extra large,

then click the "effects" button and check the box where it sais "use large icons"

then apply/ok

that should do it ,

to further adjust font size , go to "advanced" properties , select which text you want to adjust in the window , then adjust its size
 
There is no resolution. LCD's (assuming that is what this is) have a fixed pixel density and thus a single native resolution.

Any other setting will be interpolated and look quite ugly, even on the best of them.

Yeah, he didn't say, but I was thinking it was an LCD monitor on a non-native resolution. Or perhaps it's an analog LCD and the refresh rate is wrong. Or, it's a CRT monitor with a strange refresh rate.

More info, please. I'm still thinking it's something with the monitor though.
