Updating DMI data pool????

Wasn't quite sure where to post this, but since my rig is oc'd I figured this was a good place to start.

As my rig is booting up it gets to the 'Updating DMI data pool' and then hangs. Sometimes it will get as far as saying it was succesful and then hang. I'm thinking that my hd has taken a dump on me or that my XP is borked.

I've got everything turned back down to stock settings so I don't think my OC has anything to do with it. Anybody have any ideas before I wipe everything clean and start over??

Apparently DMI is short for Desktop Management Interface and what it does is poll every piece of hardware in your computer and forms a table from it which is then accessable by the OS or other software on your computer. So did you change any hardware on your computer prior to this happening?

Try resetting your BIOS settings completely. This can be accessed by pressing delete when booting up for most compters. Sometimes it is accessed by pressing F2. It may be a setting such as "load fail safe defaults" in the system setup menu. And please post and tell us the results :)
 
Here is what I did to fix it.

Enter bios...make sure your IDE Detection is set to auto....so like my hard drive was set to some option like CHS and what i did was change that to make it auto detect for everything...and bammm...it worked no prob!!!

When I got home today I went to check my bios for the suggestions you guys had made. I went to turn on the comp and I had no power at all. I had forgotten to plug it back in after messing with it last night. I plugged it in and hit the power button...still nothing. Wiggled the switch and it fired right up. Looks like maybe I have a bad power switch on my psu or something. I'm not sure whats up. I definitely had power before just maybe not enough of it??? Freakin' weird.

HA!!! Found it!! It was a bad pin in one of my molex plugs. When I connected it to something it pushed out of its socket. It was just enough to give me intermittent contact but wasn't noticeably sticking out of the plug. It just happened to be one of the only plugs that I had stuffed up over my psu out of the way where I can't see it. Very sneaky.
