I got a laptop with a Radeon Mobility 5470HD, and i wanted to update the drivers to the latest, and I was recently informed that I was not updating my drivers properly, so I was wondering exactly what I have to do, once i download the update, to install them. Do I need to remove the current drivers first ? and if so, how do I remove them. Do I just uninstall ATI Catalyst ?

Secondly, I was wondering what kind of software is out there and someone could recommend to me, for tweaking my GPU settings, and overclocking it ?
 
Laptop drivers are... well they're a special case. If you're lucky you could just install over which works fine on most desktops, but laptops can be VERY picky about how things are done with video drivers. Hope someone with more experience there can help out.
 
theres a modding tool that allows you to mod the ATI install so that your laptop will accept the install.. though i have seen some drivers screw up and kill CCC on boot but still works perfectly fine..

if im not mistaken it was hosted on guru3D but i cant remember its been about 4 months since ive messed with ATI laptop drivers.. as far as overclocking the 5470m i wouldnt recommend it.. they do overclock but odds are the cooling on that laptop wont be able to handle any overclock.. most people that do overclock them replace the gpu heatsink..
 
Some manufacturers have blocked driver update from anyone but their own, so you need to work around this in order to update with drivers that are not on the MFG's homepage.
