I'm still wondering if I should wait for a 27" LCD to appear on the market. For awhile, there was a bit of talk about it, but all news seems to have died.

Dell was supposed to come out with a 27" LCD that had the same resolution as the 2407fpw.

I'm just wondering if I should bite the bullet on 24" LCD or wait some more. I'd rather have something with a larger dot pitch because I like to sit 2 feet or more away from the monitor as opposed to 1.5 feet.

I've been waiting for the 27" for a while too. The monitor I *really* want is the Westinghouse 37" but I currently live in Germany and no online retailers ship it here. I could do with a 27"-32" just fine if the resolution is high enough.

I dont think anyone will be making a 27 inch panel anytime soon. Maybe in a TV but not in a monitor.

The next size in that range will be the 26 inchers. NEC has one due out in November

Only Samsung makes a 27" panel currently (Samsung LTM270M1) but you sure don't want it as it's dot pitch is .302 27"@1920?~1200... Majorly grainy like a 19" LCD.. I'm not aware of any monitor makers using it yet.....

Edit corrected model #.

I just sit further back from the screen so I don't think the dot pitch is going to be that bad.

What the hell is the point of buying the larger screen just to sit further away from it?

Because that is how I normally sit due to desk constraints. Besides, what's the good of sitting so damn close to a monitor anyways? Sometimes I see people sit a foot away from the monitor. What a great source of eyestrain. Sitting further back is easier on the eyes. I'm surprised the recommendation to sit a little further away from the monitor isn't more stressed by eye doctors.

edit: Before anyone says I sit too far from a monitor, I sit about 30" to 32" away from the monitor. I'm using a 19" CRT at 1280x1024, and frankly I actually like the look of 1024x768 a little better. I wonder what dot pitch that translates to.
