Yea i noticed that while browsing the eVGA website the other day. About time too, considering XFX offers one, WITH FarCry 2 for 159 after MIR. I definately like the requiring less power aspect.

I'm pretty sure that's the 8800GTS 512 cooler. Would make sense that the card is shortened and such because the 9800 GTX was just a 8800GTS 512 with more umph.

That is nice.
I wish that it came bundled with a game or the rebate was more I would get it

9800GTX+ is just the same 8800GTS G92 512mb relabled
same with
8800GT went become 9800GT

just with higher clock, so make it slightly different

TOTALLY they are the same product
which is now
is much better and compete with HD4850

The newer version of the 9800gtx+ is nice since it only requires 1 6pin connector instead of 2

Eh...not really. The 9800GTX has different power circuitry than the 8800GTS512, which theoretically means higher overclocks...and the 9800GTX+ is the G92 on a 55nm process. I think all 9800GTs are 55nm now, another difference from the 8800GT, and the 9800GT also has hybrid power capabilities.

The new 9800GTX+ with a single PCIe connector does compete much better with the 4850 though.

Every single 9800GTX+ is a 55nm chip, the 9800GTs started as 65nm and are now 55nm. I have the old style 9800GTX+, I took off the heatsink, and its 55nm.

This looks like a newer version, with less power circuity as it looks like, and the 8800GTS 512 style cooler. The 9800GTX required more power, but nvidia from the looks of it wanted the card out asap, so they just simply put it onto the existing 9800GTX pcb, which had quite alot of caps on it, obviously that and an inch less PCB contribute to some savings. I don't know how this would bode for the overclocking ability. I got the superclocked version (778/188x/1138) and I could get the core to 815/1888/1220 F@H stable, but I couldn't get the shader at all or folding would be unstable, and more than 1 step and I would get artifacts.

Overclocking the core didn't increase temps at all for me.
