Alright So i upgraded my old 512mb Infineon Pc3200 to Mushkin Lvl1 PC3200 1 Gig 512x2 and I got an extra 500 3dmark pts. Bringing me up to 14958 That is pretty good I guess. Now I haven't done anything in the bios with this memory at all. I just plugged it in and started her up! Does anyone have the P4p800 mb and have this ram? Could you tell me what I should set everything at. I am NOT overclocking nor do I plan to. Thanks
 
You shouldnt need to change any of the BIOS settings UNLESS your are OCing

14968 doesn't sound right. You should be getting probably around 16k with your system. I get 15500 with mine (9700np)

i topped out at 14937 with my card 384.5/313,
heavily artifacted tho :rolleyes:

no artifacts gets me around 14400 .

you should easily get 16000 with a stock 9800
 
What do you think could be the matter? I have Norton AV, and ActiveSync, and maybe a few other programs in the background. I really have changed any settings on the card. Everything is just the way it is default. Also everything is stock no overclocking. Any suggestions as to what I should do?
 
I only get like mid 15k on 2.6ghz with a 9800 pro and 512-3200... am I doing something wrong too?
 
Someone please end this madness before it turns into another debate on synthetic benchmarks. NOTHING is guaranteed when running these benchmarks, from one system to another. Their results can be so easily changed and can vary so much from system to system, that no one in their right mind puts any faith in them when comparing them to other machines.

I have a dream....that one day...people will stop giving a shit what their 3DMark scores are, and focus on something important and meaningful.
 
boards dont read the spd correctly. I now the Asus boards dont.


boot to cmos and change your spd from auto to manual and set your timings manualy. Start with 2-3-2-6-8 and do memtest86 for awile and see what happens

Outstanding. I agree. I would add that I am sick of the this chips is .003% faster when closing word than that chip too. But i digress

Ha, you sound like my brother. He laughs when I tell him I am getting 15k or something...He says does getting these 200 extra points really make you that cool and do your games magically play so noticeably different...He has a point! O well it is still fun. I still agree with you that they are very different from machine to machine.

, if it makes you happy to benchmark , go for it .

Go into your display properties and turn off all eyecandy , especially the texture level and mipmap level .
these are usually maxed by default and will give a couple extra "points".

just dont let it go to your head

I have a nephew that I know feels compelled to excede those numbers. Of course he recently did with his 2.4 oced to 3.6.

I will remove them if they disturb you;)
