I have an unusual problem with my current set up...

HD5850 Video Card and Acer x233h on Windows 7 x64

Here's the issue... whenever I play any game in DX11, if I attempt to make the game run at 1920x1080 (max res) the monitor tells me that the "input is out of range". This does not change whether I use a VGA or DVI connection. Any assistance is appreciated!

Probably a monitor limitation itself. The game is probably trying to run at 60Hz and your monitor may be limited to 59Hz at max res. Some of the cheaper 1080 units are. And some games (like Metro 2033) just have to be forced to play nice, regardless of your equipment.

Acer's site lists the x233h at 75 Hz max (really?)

Try seeing what your desktop refresh rate is.

by chance can you test the monitor with your gaming pc with a dx11 game?

Loaded up Bad Company 2 and the HAWX 2 benchmark without issue. Go into your display drivers settings and make the refresh rate 59Hz and then go into the game's config files and make sure it's been changed there too. You also might want to try another cable completely, as bad cables can cause strange issues.

when i go into ccc it doesn't let me set the refresh at 59 it just refreshes itself back to 60. i can set the refresh through the performance link right clicking the desktop to 59 though, but this did not work, i also tried using "refresh lock" and set it to 59 and that didn't work either. still having the same problem when setting games to run in dx10 or dx11... any more ideas?

Sounds like your directX setups are trying to force a refresh rate. Did you install the ATI Tray Tools to lock the D3D at some point? Still you could try to use it to change it to what you want. It seems like just your DX settings are bad. Or even your install itself is a bit off. Perhaps just reinstall the latest DirectX

i did not install ati tray tools before this, but i did install just now and try to override to 59hz and that did not work. then i reinstalled direct x sdk and that did not work either... still the problem remains input not supported =/

actually....my problem is solved in the majority of applications, such as unigine, however it remains in CoH, anyone with ideas as to why CoH (company of heroes) would remain a problem?

I actually managed to fix this problem with the simplest of things! "-refresh 60" in the shortcut on the desktop... now it works perfect... amazing lol. Thanks to everyone who offered their help!

Ya, I was about to ask 'which game'... Some (like Metro 2033) do require some specific tweaking...
