Until Dawn will be available on PC and PlayStation 5 on October 4th

Using Unreal Engine 5, they have updated the character models and environments, improved visual effects and animations...to give Until Dawn an extra boost of realism, they added the injury mask system, which allows the characters in-game to look extra gritty...this system adds elements such as cuts, bruises, tears, and even snow to the characters for a more realistic finish...

I'm reading that they did a Resident Evil Dual Shock treatment to the soundtrack, replacing the atmospheric horror soundtrack by Jason Graves with pop songs that completely destroy the atmosphere. They also changed various character designs for the worse, for some reason.

I assume a mod may be able to fix this.

I don't think there is any fixing this. It looks like everything about this "remaster" is worse than the original.
If someone gets creative with a modded PS4 or PS5, they could dump decrypted assets & possibly use them with a decrypted/DRM-free remaster on PC. Such has occurred before with other games, but I highly doubt there's such a following for this game to be a reality.

Too much work, and there is no guarantee that they would be easily modded into UE5. The original game ran on UE4.

I guess it's good this was ported to PC in some fashion at least. But I'll definitely just stick with the PS4 version on PS5 if I want to play it again. I hate the warm color tone, unfixed camera, and soundtrack changes they've made here. Their omission of the "O' Death" intro song is egregious enough and they'd be wise to put that back in.
